The Children and Young People Module will begin to help you understand intimate partner violence and abuse (IPVA) / domestic violence and abuse (DVA) in the context of children and young people. The module will enable you to enhance your knowledge and skills and help you to recognise and understand the health needs and impact of violence, abuse and neglect on victims and witnesses.

Sharing best practices in the subject, the module promotes the opportunity for learning new skills. Across Europe the differences in the rural/urban divide, socio-economic status, access to healthcare, neglect and loss of nuclear family, etc. result in different challenges when experiencing intimate partner violence and abuse/domestic violence and abuse and in the responses to a child or young person who is a victim or witnesses. The module seeks to provide medical and healthcare practitioners with a holistic approach due to the nature of migration across Europe for the population including medical and healthcare practitioners.

The module is divided into three sections:

  • Section 1: Intimate partner violence and abuse/domestic violence and abuse against children and young people under eighteen years old
  • Section 2: The impact of intimate partner violence and abuse/domestic violence and abuse on the well-being of children and young people
  • Section 3: Indicators of children and young people experiencing intimate partner violence and abuse/domestic violence and abuse and effective ways of communicating with victims and witnesses

Each section offers a range of reading, activities and resources for you to engage with.
