University of Iceland<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The University of Iceland is a public research university located in Reykjav\u00edk. It is the largest university in Iceland as well as the oldest. It was founded in 1911. In 2019 there were 12470 students and 1599 staff members. There are five schools at the university in Iceland: 1) School of social sciences, 2) School of humanities, 3) School of law, 4) School of medicine, 5) School of natural sciences and engineering, 6) School of teaching education. In each of the schools both teaching and research takes place. There are 3454 in the school of social sciences, 2146 in the school of humanities, 2429 in school of law, 2100 in the school of natural sciences, 2100 in the school of engineering and natural sciences and 2124 in the schools of teaching education. Finally, there are 445 in interdisciplinary studies.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(MSW, PhD) Associate Professor<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freyd\u00eds J\u00f3na Freysteinsd\u00f3ttir completed her B.A. degree with psychology as a major and social work as a minor in 1992. She completed a certificate program in Social work in 1994. She finished her master\u2019s degree in social work at the University of Iowa in the U.S. in 1998 and a PhD degree with social work as a major and psychology as a minor at the same university in 2004. She completed a diploma in teaching at a university level at the University of Iceland in 2013. She is an associate professor at the social work department at the University of Iceland. Her main research areas have been child maltreatment, violence in intimate relationships, risk behaviour of adolescents, relationships and family issues. She has worked as a social worker in social services, as a child protection worker and as a director of social services. She developed a definition- and classification system for child protection in Iceland, which has been used since 2005.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
