The REVAMP project offers innovative training materials for healthcare professionals and associated partners aimed at increasing their knowledge and awareness of Intimate Partner Violence and Abuse (IPVA), enhancing the care they provide for victims, potential victims and also, survivors of IPVA in a pan-European context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IPVA can significantly affect the health, well-being and life expectancy of women, men and children from all cultures, communities, sexual orientations and age groups. We regard protection from violence and abuse as a fundamental right of the individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though legislation and policy within partner countries will vary, we aim to agree basic principles common to the protection of individuals in all partner countries from harm through IPVA which will guide these training materials. We recognise that cultural and societal attitudes to IPVA can embody unfair judgement of victims and survivors. These attitudes may sometimes undermine policy and legislation. Nonetheless we believe that every individual has the right to be protected in law and that such judgements should in no way detract from legal definitions and protections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We believe that healthcare access points and healthcare provision can provide life-enhancing and life-saving connections with IPVA victims and potential victims. It is vital that healthcare professionals and associated partners recognise signs of IPVA and are equipped to respond accordingly. Early intervention can improve health and well-being outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Confidentiality of disclosure by victims and potential victims of IPVA may be overridden by the need to share information where risk of harm is identified. The protection of children from harm will always be the highest priority.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
